OK here is the deal I need a new laptop I have an old compaq with and AMD 1ghz and 512 megs of ram an ATI rage card with 8 megs of memmory. It works for word documents but not for games and it doesn't even have built in wireless. I am looking at a dell or an alienware. I am leaning towards a dell because of the cost but the Alienware is very apealing because it is easly upgradeable. Does anyone have any feedback on either. Thanks.

Ask what your wife thinks... Especially since your going to be buying a house in the near future here...

I know that the money will be an issue and I haven't had any problems with my Dell Laptop... I am writing this on my Dell as a matter of fact.... (I can only say nice things or it would get mad)...

Anyhoo, Alienwares are nice but they cost lots... I know you've looked at them and their warranty and talked to the wife about it... But you have to look at the larger picture of the house...

Besides, how often would you game on your laptop? Probably hardly ever since you play at your house only. Your not like marty who packs up his laptop and travels between our residences to play...

Just my thoughts... (If your wife reads this now she'll know that I don't always encourage you to spend your money :) )

You dont need to get a new laptop yet phil. u should save your money to get ur house and then u should look at getting that new laptop if its ok by ur wife. You dont always have to have the newest and best stuff thats out there, you can wait for that.

it all depends on wut you really want..if your just looking for pure gaming performance the dell actualyl performs slightly better..but the slicker styling and easily upgradable graphics card on the AW is good..plus its battery gives u 15 min more than the dell..woohoo..personally go with the AW

See im too young to be thinking about a family but you are old enough and put your family before "toys" and just have fun on what you have o.O

The Dell... You would save money and if you are going to be buying a house in the near future, that might be good. But- I would also ask your wife... :D
